Have you heard of the Global Learning XPrize? Ever wonder what they do, who they are or why they even exist?
What is the Global Learning XPrize?
XPrize is an innovation engine, a driver of exponential change and a catalyst for the benefit of humanity. Their tagline is “Making the Impossible Possible”, and they provide a vision and the thought leadership to identify the Grand Challenges, which are global crises and market failures for which solutions are thought to be either out of reach or just, plain impossible.
The lack of access to learning resources is becoming an issue that is being faced the world over, not just in developing countries. Learning is a key focus for XPrize, hence the Global Learning XPrize – my main topic for this blog post.
The Global Learning XPrize challenges teams around the world to develop scalable, open source software that will enable children in developing countries to teach themselves basic reading, writing and arithmetic within 18 months. Their goal is an empowered generation that will positively impact their communities, their countries and the world. Providing accessible learning tools is an on going challenge that requires continuous effort and collaboration.
Zap Zap Math is aligned with this end goal that XPrize has. We are building an accessible platform that will promote self-learning in children We want to make practising math fun and easy for kids by combining game elements and a depth of content, so that the learning process is fun, while still being educational.
